Back Yard Studio Time

I started this hot summer day early in the morning in my Old Town Fairfax studio, but also wanted to get some outdoor creative time in before the rain hits. I’m currently working on a set of 36″ x 36″ panels for the Mosaic District in Fairfax. Can’t wait to show you the finished pieces. Here’s a look at the work in progress so far.

Plus, summer back yard studio time requires the perfect summer music. Here’s my latest favorite for summer song of 2014. Rain or shine, I hope you enjoy this day!

Breathe. Dance. Smile. Love.

I’m loving these last sweet days of spring, but also truly looking forward to lingering through long summer days in the backyard gardens and patios of suburbia…contemplating the everyday wonder of thisness…and dancing like crazy every chance I get. Best Coast provides a perfectly sun filled summer soundtrack.
Breathe. Dance. Smile. Love.

Gratitude. Music. Inspiration. Love.

I need music like I need air. Music is a lifeline…a message of hope from the world beyond….especially in suburbia. So I have to say that I’m thrilled to have found the most exhilarating, truly wonderful, perfection filled indie music blog called 70dayweekend, which introduced me to TV Girl and oh so much more. And yes, maybe I’m gushing, but music does that to me. Happy to be rejuvenated, and feeling gratitude today for the life-giving, soul-enriching, dancing-on-the-bed-inspiring power of music and music lovers everywhere. Enjoy. Dance. Love.

Dream Noise Weekend

Enjoying this last weekend of winter, looking forward to the coming of spring, and adding this latest single from Veronica Falls to the list of music that makes me realize I’m nostalgic for the ethereal jangle pop of the 80s and 90s. Whimsical dream noise bright halftone dot color flash and relentless beat. Breathe. Dance. Smile. Love.

Contemplating the Eye of My Soul

I’ve been in love with this song for the last couple months or so. After yesterday’s reference to the cyst on my pineal gland, a tiny gland located in the middle of the brain that Descartes designated as “the seat of the soul,” it seemed this song would be a good fit. I’ve known the cyst was there for most of my life. Considering the vast amount of folklore and the traditions within many world religions regarding the third eye, mysticism, intuition, and communication with the divine, I’ve often wondered what impact this tiny cyst has on the eye of my soul. I’ll be meditating today with lapis lazuli–one of the many stones associated with the third eye–and then later…more dancing on the bed. La Sera‘s second full length album, Sees the Light, is set to be released on March 27. Enjoy.
