“Panoplia” Opening Night at Epicure Café Saturday June 14

Epicure Café is pleased to present Panoplia, an eclectic and groundbreaking collection of paintings and mixed media work by local artists, and curated by The Bunnyman Bridge Collective (aka artists/curators Jason Davis, Jessica Kallista, and Javier Padilla).

On the heels of the successful and irreverent Tell Me Something, Epicure Café and The Bunnyman Bridge Collective continue to redefine art in suburbia, as well as art audience experiences. For their latest exhibition, Epicure Café and The Bunnyman Bridge Collective bring together an impressive array of talented and playfully jaw-dropping artists.

Combining lush, large format oil paintings that evoke a chaotic surrealist nostalgia, complex geometric elements of precise and well-wrought abstract work, fantastically detailed mixed media dreamscapes, provocative color drenched street art, and more, Panoplia delivers an intoxicating blend of exciting local art.

Saturday, June 14, from 7pm to midnight, spend an evening with The Bunnyman Bridge Collective and artists Diana Adams, Alex Beck, Abner De Jesus, Ricardo “Gogue” De Jesus, Jeff Duka (including collaborative work with Jason Davis and Brian Legan), Vanessa Glick, Karen Mullarkey, and Allison Ries.

Music for the evening will be provided by the always entertaining Charlie Bare Quartet.

Epicure Café, located at 11104 Lee Highway in Fairfax, VA, is open 7 days a week from 5 – midnight. Panoplia will be on view at Epicure Café from June 14 through August 2.

“Tell Me Something” Opening Reception at Epicure Café Saturday April 5

The opening reception for the art exhibition, Tell Me Something, is this Saturday, April 5, at Epicure Café in Fairfax, VA. The show includes more than 10 of my newest collages, as well as gorgeous new paintings by artists Jason Davis and Javier Padilla. Together the three of us have formed a new artist collective inspired by the local urban legend of the Bunnyman: The Bunnyman Bridge Collective. The opening reception will include a live unveiling of The Bunnyman Bridge Collective’s most recent exquisite corpse collaborations and free art drops throughout the evening. The incredible Kid Claws will provide a full night of their lush and ethereal, dreamy noisy pop music. See you at Epicure Café from 7pm to midnight for a must see night of art, music, surprises, and play! You want to be part of this night!

A Little Something New for You

I’ve been in a frenzied mode of creativity for months now. You can usually find me running around with paint in my hair and mountains of paper scraps at my feet. Between the crazy nonstop world of the regular everyday madness, starting a new poetry workshop in January, and being involved in something like a billion incredible art projects, this poor little blog thingy tends to become neglected. Don’t get me wrong. I’m grateful for the busy pace. I crave it, you know.

Creating new pieces for Free Art Friday NoVA and giving pieces away every week has become an obsession. I’ve even sent a piece of my free art off to Sydney, Australia. Every once in a while I give away a Free Art Friday piece on my Facebook page as well. And, just in case you’re interested in finding some of my free art in Northern Virginia, I’m planning to drop pieces at the new Epicure Café for the next several weeks. I would love for you to find a piece! If you do find one, please take a photo of yourself with your Free Art Friday piece and post it to the Free Art Friday NoVA page and/or to my Dear Suburbia page on Facebook. I would love to see you enjoying your free found art!

I’ve also become part of a new art collective, The Bunnyman Bridge Collective, with fellow artists Jason Davis and Javier Padilla. Be on the lookout. We’re already up to quite a bit of creative mischief in the unsuspecting wilds of suburbia. There are so many exciting collaborations and art filled events in the works for 2014. I’m keeping them as sort of a secret for now. I’ll let you in on all of it very soon. For now, here are a few of my most recent collages that I hope you will love!  xoxo
